One-Line Bio

A free-thinker with a conscience and a twist.

Biography

I have had a slightly unusual upbringing. I was born in Sri Lanka, but I don't consider myself a true Sri Lankan. I have lived in 4 different countries in 4 different continents. I speak 3 and a half languages (my german is very basic). Having lived here for almost 15 years, Australia is where I now call home. But my roots do not run very deep and when it comes down to the crunch, I guess I can only really call myself an earthling.

I think my personality takes little bits from each country I lived in. I certainly have the family values of a Sri Lankan. I like to think I have the precision and neutrality of a Swiss. I definitely have the easy going nature of an Australian. I am not sure what I have taken away from my Canadian experience, maybe its the love of the cold weather.

Moving around during my childhood wasn't restricted to moving countries. My parents always seemed to have a bug for change and even when we lived in one city, we often moved home about once a year. I have inherited that habit and during my 14 years in Australia I have lived in over 10 homes. I have been living in Glebe now for almost 2 years and I am starting to get itchy feet :-)

I like to think of myself as being quite normal, but my lovely girlfriend says that I am a bit of an oddball. When I think about it, she is probably right. People often seem to get surprised at my decisions.

In my professional life, I like to think of myself as a problem solver. At the moment I run my own company with three other business partners. Our company has now been running for over 4 years, so I guess that in a world where over 90% of businesses fail, we have been successful. We provide our services to various businesses in Australia and China and I focus my energies on leading a team that provides consulting services.

However I am now almost 34 years old and I am starting to turn my energies to other passions as well. I am starting to expand on my passion for writing with the likely starting point being a play I am writing with my girlfriend. In the coming years I also want to turn my problem solving attention to the public sector.

I hope you enjoy reading my blogs. I am creating them more to put my thoughts in order than for anything else. But if I can provide some amusement to someone on the way, then that would be a bonus :-)
